Hollywood star to present if.comedy award.
Actor Christian Slater is to announce this year's if.comedy Award on August 25.
The star returns to Edinburgh Fringe after his appearance in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in 2004. Slater says "Having made my UK stage debut at the Fringe, I am delighted to be returning to Edinburgh."
The if.comedy's replace the 25 year Perrier Awards for comedy at the Fringe, and offers three awards- Best Comedy Show, Best Newcomer and a new Panel Prize.
The panel, who will include top critics and industry experts will be judging over 350 acts for the top prize of £8,000. Previous winners include Lee Evans and the League of Gentleman, last year's winner Phil Nichol is performing in three shows at this years Festival.
The 2007 nominees will be announced August 22.
