Death, decomposition, decay. This was pretty much the subject matter of
the shows seen today. I’m sitting here at the midnight hour, trying to
decipher a notepad crammed with my macabre musings on all of them.
I’m almost a walking corpse myself. Every day is an endless ream of
reviews, interviews, news-breaking and website maintenance. Then a
bunch of knitwear and kilts goes and catches fire on Princes Street!
9am yesterday. I found myself standing among the chaos, fire engines, police cars, and onlookers. Unshaven, hungover, and cursing ever having taken on the insurmountable task of providing everyday coverage of the Edinburgh Festival.
The night before was more like the news I like to cover. A press launch soiree at the Stand Comedy Club. Miss Blue and I had a splendid night.
We shared table with Festival Director Jon Morgan and his partner. I had to admire Jon. He’s been on a hectic schedule since he started the post five weeks ago. I have to say, a really nice guy and it’s going to be great to see what he does to make the Festival his own over the next few years.
Jon even slipped us an invite to Sunday’s Fringe launch party. Curiofestival.com will be carrying full coverage of what promises to be THE launch event of the week, as we usher in the 61st Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
What happens after that is anyone's guess.
Exeunt.
