Curiofestival website is set to go live this evening. It's one final huge push by Curio hq to avoid any technical gremlins and tweak copy as we near our midnight launch. A big thank you to all who have helped so far. I was offered a 'lucrative' sponsorship deal from a local chip shop this afternoon. I don't know if this is reference to the fact that our tabloid-take on the Festival is the media equivalent of junk food or it's testament to the fact that we're making waves in the deep-fat frying circles. I politely declined. What other news? I've also had a lengthy telephone chat with my London comedy 'mole'. She's been a great source for getting the lowdown on the stars coming up this year, and some of her insights have been real shockers. I'm not saying that half of Columbia's crop yield has been consumed to help fuel creative minds in the run up to the Festival, but it just goes to show that everyone needs some 'higher help' to enhance performances. I could certainly have done with some boost myself last night as I went through all the Festival brouchures trying to cherry-pick my 'must-see' shows. I got as far as Faustus in the theatre section of the Fringe guide before collapsing, a wreck of a man, overwhelmed by the sheer choice. Indeed, my commitment to covering all the news and gossip at this year's Fest has begun to feel like a pact with the Devil. I am terrified that post-August, I, Curio will be an empty void of a man, begging for the return of my soul that I so flagrantly traded, and all for a few free press passes to some rather forgettable shows. But no. I struggle on, as I firmly believe The Show is about to begin. It's all going to be worth it. Exeunt. |
