Edinburgh Fringe Festival![]() Sinjin was “the boy that mummy never wanted.” Is it any wonder that he grew up, a deviant cad, now suckling on the bottle-neck of debauchery? But Sinjin, like sin itself, is curiously loveable. Whether you want to or not, this porky fop and his sordid imaginings, is the protagonist who drags us into his terrible world; a world where bad taste and tragedy collide. The green goo sends his demons scuttling out before us. These demons come in the guise of the rest of the Tax Deductible troupe. Together, they brilliantly conspire to ensnare us into the darkest of trips that explore a range of social ills. The Absinthe Monologues is a daring gallop of fast-paced, zesty sketches that will make you gulp in horror and guffaw with glee. The play touts itself as a tour de farce but there is proper scathing social commentary that comes absinthe-soaked in surreal, hysterical, comedic vignettes. There is black-magic in this here show. Beware. Bawdy, filthy and utterly superb. Two word verdict: wicked stuff The Absinthe Monologues Zoo Southside Aug 2-27 Back to reviews |
